I just posted a gifset that had this gif in it, so you’re probably like, “wtf are you doing??” Well, I wanna talk about this for a sec.

When I was taking the screencaps of this moment, I literally had to stop for a minute and do something else. The way he turns, and the expression on his face when he stops, is utterly chilling. I don’t usually find Hannibal to be a frightening show, per se, but this one simple moment is scary.

One of the things I’ve praised about Mads’ performance is how he makes Hannibal move in a very reptilian way. His body, his head, his neck–all very snake-like. This gif illustrates that perfectly. The thing he does with his neck. Is that real?! Is that Mads, or is that post-production computer magic??

NO ONE’S NECK SHOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE LIKE THAT. He moves so perfectly like some sort of cobra, and as his eyes sweep past the camera (just before he focuses on Bedelia, whose line of sight is higher than the camera’s focus) you get this sense of someone not entirely human. Someone cold and dangerous.

I honestly don’t know how much of that movement is Mads and how much might be computer stuff, but honestly. That look is all Mads, and I just gotta say–A+ well done wow boy howdy you are a scary motherfucker.
